Getting Started & Account
Is it free to join Scrap Trade Online?
Yes, registration is completely free. You can create a profile, browse listings, and access community resources at no cost. We only charge a small transaction fee when a successful deal is finalized and paid for.
How do I get the “Verified Trader” badge?
To become a Verified Trader, you must upload a valid government-issued ID and your company registration/business license. Our compliance team reviews these documents within 24-48 hours. Verified badges increase buyer trust by 80%.
Trading & Payments
How does the Escrow payment system work?
Escrow protects both parties. The Buyer deposits funds into our secure holding account. The Seller ships the goods. Once the Buyer receives and inspects the material, they approve the release, and funds are transferred to the Seller. If goods are not sent, the Buyer gets a refund.
Who sets the scrap metal prices?
Sellers set their own asking prices, but we recommend pricing based on the current LME (London Metal Exchange) rates. Our platform provides a real-time price ticker to help you stay competitive.
Logistics & Quality Standards
What are ISRI Codes and why do I need them?
ISRI (Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries) codes are standard specifications for scrap materials (e.g., “Barley” for No. 1 Copper Wire). Using these codes ensures the Buyer knows exactly what quality they are purchasing, reducing disputes.
Who arranges shipping and logistics?
This is negotiated between the Buyer and Seller. Listings can be marked as “EXW” (Ex Works – Buyer picks up) or “CIF” (Cost, Insurance & Freight – Seller arranges delivery). We also have a network of logistics partners if you need assistance.
What happens if the material quality is poor?
If the delivered material does not match the listing description, the Buyer can raise a dispute in the Escrow system. Funds are frozen while our dispute resolution team reviews the evidence (photos, weight tickets).
